We work with you to ensure your vision is transformed into exactly what you desire it to be. When you commission a piece from Smith Company, no detail will be disregarded, no element overlooked. We will not be satisfied with the final outcome of your piece until you are. With every piece being custom, our process can and does vary, but below you will find a brief description of our typical procedure.

Begin by simply giving us a call or sending us an email. Whether you know exactly what you want down to the last detail or simply have a need, we are here to serve. We have the ability to create something seen in a photograph or a completely original design to fill your unique vision.

This step can be done on the phone, through email, by appointment in the Smith Company showroom, or in your home or business. During this time, Smith Company collects all of the information needed to provide a quote for the commissioned piece. Smith Company offers flexible hours to better serve you.

After the consultation, you will receive a quote showing exactly what the commissioned piece will cost. Our quotes are not estimates and we take great pride in charging our clients exactly what we said we would. If at any point, changes are made by the client that are going to affect the final price it will be brought to their attention before the change is made.

Upon approval of the quote, a deposit of 50% of the final price is placed. This deposit allows us to purchase the materials, cover our costs while we are constructing the piece, and serves as a commitment from the client. Once the deposit is placed an exact deadline is given in which the client can expect to have their piece completed. Smith Company currently has a 4-6 month lead time.

Commissioning a piece from Smith Company is much more than just ordering a piece; we truly work with you through the entire process to ensure you receive exactly what you desire. You will be involved throughout the creation process to approve the design, select hardware, and select a finish. During the process, you are always welcome to visit the Smith Company workshop to see your piece "come to life."
